Our Mission and History

Coatesville Community Bike Works (CCBW) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created and staffed by Coatesville area bicycle enthusiasts to enrich their community.

Since its beginning in 2006, the organization has developed a community bike shop program that assists the community with basic bicycle repairs, maintenance, and safety.   It has a mentoring program for young people to learn bicycle repair and maintenance and has had successful summer Earn-A-Bike programs.  CCBW’s “Recycle A Bicycle” program was developed to keep older bicycles “in use” and not filling our landfills.

CCBW recognizes bicycling as a constructive activity that promotes physical fitness, a means of transportation, and a competitive sport.

Our Mission – We seek to increase opportunities for the city’s youth through bicycling.  Using adult and youth mentors, we develop nurturing relationships encouraging brighter futures. Through educating the community on how to recondition used bicycles, we are putting forgotten bikes back on the streets in a reliable, safe condition. By promoting active living and encouraging bicycle transportation, we enhance the health of our community and environment.
